What items are available for hire?

Oliver Brown has an extensive collection of evening tails, dinner jackets (single and double breasted), velvet jackets, top hats, and morning wear available to hire. As a part of our hire packages, some of our hires include shirts and accessories.

How long does a hire last?

You will have the option at checkout to select the dates for which you need your hire clothing.

The standard hire period is 3 days or over a weekend (Friday to Monday). For any day over this period, there is an additional charge of £10 per day.

Hires during Ascot are for 24-hours only. Collection is from 5pm pre-attendance at the races and must be returned by 10am the following day. Any additional days are charged at the full rental rate.

What if I am late returning my hire?

For a standard hire, we apply a late fee of £25 per day beyond the hire period you have selected (except for in extenuating circumstances on a case by case basis).

For Ascot hires which are returned late, we charge the full rental fee for each 24-hour period.

Are items cleaned regularly?

Yes. We maintain a strict quality control process on all hire stock and ensure that it is dry cleaned between rental periods.

How soon before an event should I book my hire?

Especially during busy periods, we may take up to 4 days to prepare a hire order. Please leave sufficient time before your event to book a hire order with us. For large wedding or corporate orders, we recommend booking at least one month in advance.

Can my hire be delivered?

At present, we are not offering delivery for hire items. At checkout, you will be able to select one of our stores for collection. This allows you the opportunity to try on your garments when you visit so that we can ensure everything fits properly.

What if I order and my sizes are incorrect?

We have plenty of hire stock available at each of our locations, and we encourage customers to try on their hire garments upon collection. If you find that any part of your hire does not fit as expected, it is usually not a problem to swap sizes immediately for you.

How does payment work?

Payment is taken in full at the time you place your order. There is no need to leave a security deposit upon collection. If your circumstances change, or you need to cancel your order, we offer a full refund up to 48 hours before your booking begins.

Which is the best store to visit for hire?

All of our stores in London and Chester accept walk-in hire bookings and carry all sizes in our hire clothing. If you require a same-day hire, our City of London store (where our warehouse is located) has the largest stock quantities.

Can I order in one store and collect / return in another?

Yes, you are welcome to place your order at any of our locations (or online) and collect / return your items at any of our stores.

Do you offer appointments for hire fittings?

We do not currently offer appointments for hire fittings. Feel free to visit one of our locations at any time, and our staff will be happy to assist you.
